Million Smiles: About Our Initiative
Masks are playing a crucial role in controlling the spread of COVID – 19, and in keeping the community safe. In our societies and condominiums, we find many of our front-line workers (house helpers, security, couriers, guards, etc.) not wearing masks due to unavailability of proper masks.
Amplus Solar, as part of its CSR activity, has pledged to make available 1 million reusable cloth masks to the front-line workers. These drives started with societies and the DC Office, Gurgaon. They have now reached many other locations in various states across the country, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka.
We have collaborated with Urmul, an NGO, to procure the masks being used for this drive. This has enabled us to magnify the impact of our initiative. We are providing a livelihood to the ones who have lost their jobs, while securing the safety of the ones in need.

Masks being made by home-based women workers
All the masks distributed in this initiative are being procured from multiple NGOs that are utilising the manpower of the underprivileged workers. The money being used by us to buy these masks would go to the underprivileged artisans whose work has been struck badly due to the pandemic. It is directly going to the people in dire need of basic income and employment. We have also collaborated with Urmul for the same. Urmul is an NGO that focuses on the upliftment of vulnerable and marginal sections of the society – women and children and has been actively making an impact through health, livelihoods, education, governance and advocacy interventions.
Ensuring Safety with our Distribution Drive
Our distribution drive started with our employees at the forefront. These drives started with societies and the DC Office, Gurgaon, and spread to many other places across India with help of Volunteers. Masks have been distributed in cities such as Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Agra, Indore, Hyderabad etc and to smaller towns such Rabriyawas, Ajmer and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, Rewa and Dhar in Madhya Pradesh, Mirzapur and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, and Hulkoti and Nelralagunta in Karnataka among others.
We have also distributed them at our solar plant sites, including Chitradurga and Gadag in Karnataka, and Mirzapur in Uttarpradesh, to name a few.
